fermentasi bakteri seperti Escherichia coli atau Klebsiella pneumoniae
muncul sebagai koloni merah muda atau merah kecil. Laktosa-nonfermenting bakteri seperti
Spesies Salmonella, Proteus spesies dan spesies Shigella muncul sebagai tak berwarna
koloni. Produksi H2S oleh spesies Salmonella bergantian pusat yang
hitam koloni.

 colonies with green metallic sheen or blue–black to brown color. Bacteria
 that do not ferment lactose appear as colorless or transparent light purple
 colonies

mulus kuning-oranye koloni. M.avium muncul sebagai halus, tidak berwarna
